The plaque reads: Tiwest Joint Venture Chandala Operations, the second stage of Australia's first fully integrated mineral sands to titanium dioxide pigment project was officially opened on Friday, 18th October 1991 by Mr Robert G. Becher (Developer of the Becher Process for the production of synthetic rutile) - The process synthesised rutile from ilmenite.
