Illustrated above is the type of settler's cottage being erected on groups
by the Government. A recent contract
lot was the construction of 362 cot-
tages in the Northcliffe area. The
successful tenderer was Mr. J. Carrigg,
of Mt Lawley, and the price of the con-
tract was £87,350. The buildings are
of wood, and in this contract the whole
building ls to be supplied and erected
by the contractor, whereas previously
the materials were supplied by con-
tract and put together by piecework.
